Meet Sidney

Hi, I’m Sidney!

I am an LPC in Colorado and I am so happy you are here.

Like you, I wear lots of hats. I am a woman, daughter, sister, mother, wife, dog-mom, counselor, student, teacher, supervisor, small business owner, and so much more.

What should someone know about working with you?

I ground myself and my practice in being radically genuine. I strive to strive a balance between mindfully and intentionally meeting you where you are (whether it be hurt, stuck, lost, or confused) and holding accountability for the ways you may be holding yourself back from meaningful change and growth. If you are needing support and encouragement in order to make real changes to you life and if you are ready to make an investment in yourself, than I would encourage you to reach out an schedule a free 15 minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit.

What was your path to becoming a mental health provider?

Over the course of my education and counseling career I have developed a passion for helping adults work through past trauma and find balance and mindfulness in their day to day life. If you can believe it, I actually was drawn to the mental health/helping fields to work with children! Now, if you read my profile you might be thinking, Sidney, how did you go from working with kids to treating trauma in adults?? Well the short answer is that the soft spot I have for children is just too big for me to be therapeutic with them. So the natural move was to work with adults. I tend to take a neurobiological approach to counseling (in part) which drew me to EMDR, which then drew me to trauma and attachment work. I have absolutely loved this work.

How do you continue learning and building new skills?

I am a "forever student" and love learning. Past supervisors have described me as someone who always needs their next project and that likes to have lots of "pots on the stove". I am currently a doctoral candidate in pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, am working on requirements (educational and supervised clinical hours) for a license in Addictions Counseling, and engage in individual and group consultation related to EMDR. I also recently obtained my board certification in telemental health practice. In the future I am also hoping to expand my expertise to better support perinatal concerns. So, if you are someone seeking balance amongst the chaos of your many roles, know that I see you and I have been there!
